Speaking at Monday’s pre-Cabinet press briefing, Casimir addressed the issue head-on, insisting that there is no truth to suggestions that he has ever purchased Crown land in Saint Lucia.
“There is absolutely no truth to me purchasing Crown land in Morne Serpent, or anywhere else in Saint Lucia. I have never purchased Crown land,” Casimir asserted. “You know when someone says ‘never, never, never’? I mean exactly that. Never.”
Casimir explained that the land in question is public property, which was placed under the Crown’s management to improve access to basic utilities for long-time residents.
“The records are easy to verify,” he said. “Once the land was placed in the Crown, residents who had lived there for decades were finally able to get water connections to their homes. After we graded the road, we began constructing drains and worked with WASCO to install pipes so that people in Morne Serpent could get access to water for the first time.”
The MP also responded to rumours circulating online suggesting that he owns a house in the Corinth area.
“Apparently people can now drive past any house, take a picture, and post it online claiming it’s mine,” Casimir said. “That post has over 150,000 views, but it’s a total fabrication. I do not own that house. I have no shares in it, no involvement whatsoever.”
He accused political opponents of deliberately spreading misinformation as part of a wider strategy to discredit him.
“The United Workers Party believes the only way they can win Gros Islet is by lying,” Casimir said. “They offer no ideas, no solutions, and can’t speak to the real development happening in Gros Islet over the last four years.”
Casimir maintained that the allegations are baseless and urged his rivals to focus on meaningful discussions about policy, governance, and the continued progress of the Gros Islet constituency.
