aron Foods is set to expand its operations in the south with a new seven-acre regional headquarters, a move expected to generate jobs and strengthen local industries.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on site, marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth and the broader manufacturing sector.

Ronald Ramjattan, Managing Director of Baron Foods, described the expansion as more than just additional space.

This is about the birth of new ideas and businesses under the Baron Group of Companies. From snack foods to paper products and tourism, we are diversifying, innovating, and investing in the future of our country,” he said.

Commerce Minister Emma Hippolyte emphasised the wider economic impact of the project.

With this expansion, you are not just growing your physical footprint; you are expanding your reach, your capacity, and your economic impact. This investment reflects confidence in the vibrancy and resilience of our local economy, and the government is committed to supporting this growth.”

Marguerite Desir, President of the Saint Lucia Manufacturers Association, said the project is a statement of confidence in the island’s people and future.

Today’s groundbreaking is not simply a construction milestone. It signals continued growth for the entire manufacturing sector and a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when visionaries lead the way,” she said.

Vieux Fort South MP Dr Kenny Anthony praised Baron Foods for its dedication and quality, describing the expansion as: “a tremendous affirmation of confidence in this country and recognition of the extraordinary journey that Ronald has had.”

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre highlighted the company’s role as a model for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Ronald and his family have toiled and worked hard in that industry for a long while. He started small, expanded gradually, embraced technology, and exported products internationally. I am confident the succession is well planned, and I look forward to cutting the ribbon on the new complex in two years’ time.

The expansion of Baron Foods is expected to bring substantial benefits to Vieux Fort and Saint Lucia’s broader economy.

Baron Foods commenced operations in November 1991 with a total of 15 employees at the Vieux Fort Industrial Estate.
