Police Arrest 19-Year-Old for Firearm Possession

Royal Saint Lucia Police Force press statement details that on Thursday, July 10, 2025, a major breakthrough occurred about 6:00 p.m. at Rose Hill/ Morne Du Don Junction when officers encountered a suspicious individual near Wiltons Yard.

A search of the individual is said to have revealed two illegal firearms: a Glock .45 pistol loaded with fourteen (14) rounds of ammunition and a black pistol loaded with seventeen (17) rounds of 9mm ammunition. This individual was identified as Derek Charles.

The police add that on Friday, July 11, 2025, Derek Charles, nineteen (19) years of La Feuillet, Monchy, was charged with Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. On Monday, July 14, 2025, he was escorted to the First District Court for bail purposes and was granted bail in the sum of ninety thousand dollars ($90,000) and other court conditions.
