"T

he Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) rallied in full support of Dennery North MP Shawn Edward during a town hall meeting held on Tuesday evening.

The gathering served as both a show of unity and a reaffirmation of the party’s confidence in Edward’s leadership, as members celebrated his record of service and anticipated a strong fourth-term victory.

Castries East MP and Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre addressed the gathering, reminding constituents that the SLP’s governance is rooted in people-first policies.

Every Monday morning, when we sit in Cabinet, we think about you. We think about your children, your grandchildren, and the elderly who have worked hard and deserve a decent quality of life.”

Dr. Ernest Hilaire, MP for Castries South and Deputy Prime Minister, praised Edward for his tireless advocacy within Cabinet and his commitment to education.

I sat in Cabinet yesterday and I was so proud of the work Shawn is doing. He asked for an extra 25 scholarships under the First Generation Scholarship Programme. The Prime Minister asked if he had the money to pay for it, and Shawn said, ‘We don’t have, but we’ll do it.’ The Prime Minister said, ‘Let’s go ahead and do it.’ That is the kind of commitment he brings to his people.”

Edward, who has represented Dennery North since 2011, expressed confidence in his continued political strength in the constituency.

If the election is called later this year, or if it is called next year, I shall not be moved in Dennery North. I can stay here tonight and confidently state that I am on the verge of winning my fourth election.”

The meeting was marked by enthusiastic support from residents, many of whom have benefited directly from Edward’s initiatives in education, youth development, and community infrastructure.
