Upgrades at St Jude Signal Turning Point in Health Sector Reform

aint Lucia's long-awaited health sector transformation continues to gather momentum, with significant progress reported at the new St Jude Hospital site in Augier.

Health Minister Moses Jn Baptiste, speaking during a recent media briefing, said construction is nearing completion and a transition plan is actively underway to move services from the temporary stadium-based facility to the new hospital.

Minister Jn Baptiste indicated that planning meetings are ongoing to ensure a smooth relocation process. “We are working with the various teams to ensure that there is going to be a smooth transition of services from the stadium to the Augier site,” he stated.

This includes not only logistical arrangements but also ensuring that newly procured medical equipment is properly installed, tested, and functional before the hospital becomes fully operational.

The health minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and noted the growing anticipation among healthcare workers, especially nurses and health aides, who are eager to occupy and operate within the new facility.

Said Minister Jn Baptiste: “We know that the nurses, the health aides and so on look forward to the completion of that work.

He also affirmed that these improvements are expected to significantly enhance patient care in the southern region of the island.
