A

new champion has been crowned in the Soufriere Super League’s Kick For A Cause Hotel Charity Football Tournament.

Now in its 3rd season, the 2026 tournament kicked off in August with eight teams battling for the title: Anse Chastanet/Jade Mountain, Combined Police & Fire, Hotel Chocolat, Ladera Resort, Stonefield/Caille Blanc/Paradise Hotel Combined, Soufriere Foundation, Soufriere Veterans and Sugar Beach. The final was held on Sunday, September 13th at the Soufriere Mini Stadium, with last year's champions Sugar Beach facing Hotel Chocolat. With the two sides locked at 1-1 after regulation, Hotel Chocolat clinched the title in the penalty shootout. Ladera Resort secured third place with a convincing 7-1 win over Soufriere Veterans.

This year's tournament was held under the theme “Education in Soufriere”, with proceeds going towards the Soufriere Special Education School. Kevin Cooper, member of the planning committee, expressed gratitude for the tournament's continued role as a meaningful community initiative that brings together the tourism industry and wider community in support of a worthy cause. “It’s been a great success. Here at the stadium in Soufriere, the community are out as you can see. It’s really interesting and we’re looking forward to next year for sure! All proceeds from food and beverage to the ticket prices are going to Special Education School here in Soufriere. With the sponsorship that we had from the Tourism Enhancement Fund, the funds will go such a long way for the community and the school,” he said.

The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) was the title sponsor of this year's tournament, with Programme Manager Donette Ismael expressing the Fund's pleasure in being part of the initiative. “We are happy to be collaborating with various hotels in the south of the island to bring this competition to a reality. We are especially happy to see how the members of the community have come out to support their participating properties and to rally behind such a worthy initiative.

The TEF commends everybody who has participated in this year’s initiative from the volunteers to the various actors in the background. We encourage members of the public to stay updated with the work of the TEF and look out for more initiatives such as this where the Fund comes out into your community to support you,” she said. Giving back to communities and making a positive difference in people's lives is at the heart of the TEF. The Soufriere Special Education School provides specialised education and support to children, helping them to learn, grow and reach their potential. The TEF thanks the companies and visitors who contribute to the Fund and make initiatives like this possible.
