The major sporting event is expected to attract athletes and delegations from up to 32 countries, marking a significant moment in the island's growing reputation as a premier destination for international athletic competition.
President of the Saint Lucia Bodybuilding and Body Fitness Association, Jacqueline Trim, described the upcoming championship as more than just a contest.
“It’s a celebration of hard work, discipline, and the relentless pursuit of excellence,” she said, and underscored the significance of the event for both the athletes and the island.
Minister for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Kenson Casimir, hailed the announcement as further proof of Saint Lucia’s capability to host world-class sporting events.
“Saint Lucia has really been a nation over the last few years that has shown the ability to host major championships, major sporting events across the global spectrum,” he said.
Casimir pointed to the island’s successful hosting of marquee events, including matches during the ICC Cricket World Cup and the recent visit by FIFA President Gianni Infantino during a regional football conference. “It brings me great pleasure… for Saint Lucia now to be hosting the CAC Bodybuilding Championship,” he added.
According to Athlete Mobilisation Officer Edmund Sidonie, the evolving landscape of bodybuilding makes the sport more accessible than ever.
“This is huge for Saint Lucia. The categorisations you have of bodybuilding, now classic bodybuilding, fit model, and all those different areas, encourage everybody else to get in this sport. Because before, what you had was just hardcore bodybuilding.”
Sidonie also called on Saint Lucians to rally behind the event, viewing it as part of a broader evolution of fitness culture in the region.
